Recruiting Social Media Without Oversharing
Educational information only. This article does not guarantee recruiting outcomes and is not legal, medical, financial, eligibility or professional advice.
Athletes can share useful recruiting information without publishing sensitive routines or contact details.
Key considerations
- Use guardian-controlled contact permissions for minors.
- Never post home addresses, schedules or travel details.
- Keep public bios concise and factual.
- Save important coach communication appropriately.
- Report impersonation and suspicious requests.
Questions to ask before you commit
Who operates the opportunity? Is the venue confirmed? What will the athlete actually receive? What happens if travel, weather, staffing or coach attendance changes? What supervision, medical and emergency procedures are in place? Keep written records and independently verify important claims.
Keep the decision athlete-centered
Consider development value, health, academics, family budget and realistic fit together. A camp, showcase, trainer or marketing opportunity should never be treated as a guaranteed path to recruitment, ranking, an offer or a scholarship.
